Construction / tuning:

I came across this little boat in one of my visits to the local RC store.
They had it on sale for approx. 30 EUR (kit only). I found this a good
deal and purchased it for the enjoyment of my 5-year old son (he
always wanted a boat for HIMSELF).
The box contained all parts but instruction manual was only in Czech
language - supported with lots of pictures.
However all parts (and there were only a few) fitted well together. The
need of gluing the top and bottom together was completed with
3-hours epoxy. The installation of the motor (a 600 that I had left over
from one of the planes which was replaced with a brushless motor)
was fitted on a supplied piece of plastic. The BEC I had to buy new
(and rather expensive - more then the boat) - however this Robbe BEC
includes the water cooling ability (which I do not use).
A 3-blade 40 mm dia screw was used and performs well until today
As I did not have a proper receiver for boats or cars I used a 6-channel
plane receiver. No problems until now as I run the antenna through a
little tub (insulated) to the outside of the boat.
After a first flip of the boat during the first runs - it almost sank! I learnt
afterwards (from some internet forums) that you shall foam the empty
areas of the boats hull with building foam to give better stability and
floating ability during "accidents". So I have done it.
At the end you cut out and apply the stickers (which hold well even
when wet). My stickers (compared to the picture above) are actually red!

Running Experience:

During the first run I was surprised by the speed of this little boat. The
rudder was coming too quick and I flipped it over during a hard turn. No
damage done. Also my kids love the boat and run it quite often during
calm days at the nearby lake. The rudder has now a 30 % expo and
reacts calm also during high speed runs. Cool little thing and a
contrast to my planes. However I am and will always remain a "flying
man" and not a car, boat or sub driver!
Boating time with these cells: approx. 6 min.
