Construction / tuning:
What a surprise during Christmas 2011 - a Dog Fighter was under the
Hungarian Christmas tress .... :-) ! OK, it was the second plane, but the
setup was different and quite interesting. A slower turning Motor, larger
folding prop and the decision to go for the rudder servo too.
I will not waste now the time to describe the building as it was partly
explained in the previous - Dog Fighter 1 - page, but also is
exceptionally described in the supplied manual from Multiplex. There
have been no issues with the assembly - as usual.
Just as a note at the end: the finishing colours for this plane were the
real Dog-Fighter sticker set provided within the box!
31st December - the last day of the year provided a great opportunity to
let this little bird (or dog) fly for the first time - sunny, just a slight breeze,
cold (around + 2 Celsius).
The first two attempts to start the plane in a 3D style (grabbing the
fuselage from the top) ended again on the ground! Finally the 3rd start
from above my head went well and without problems. The Dog Fighter
went up at a 30 degree angle and showed power!
The top speed is less then the no. 1 Dog Fighter, but I actually find this
solution of setup better and more in line with the plane then the
overpowered setup of the first DF.
And the flight time - over 15 minutes on the above mentioned lipo!
Anyway - after 3 lipos my hands were frozen and it was time to go
home for a hot gluehwein and preparations for the Silvester rockets!
Happy New Year 2012!
Still to come...
